BEST WEEK EVER!!
This week was full of many things of much fun. On Monday and Wednesday we had an opportunity to work on the stake float for Pioneer Day (7/24/15). Besides all of Utah and some of Idaho, Pioneer Day goes unnoticed but here it is bigger than Fourth of July. The float’s theme is the connection between the past, present, and future. On one side of the float there will be a raft crossing the river Jordan onto the shore where modern day West Valley is. On the raft there will be people dressed up as pioneers and on the shore there will be a dude dressed in present day clothing. Behind him will be replicas of religious buildings that are around West Valley. Behind those buildings there will be futuristic buildings implying that there will be growth in the future. It is a proud beast and it was fun to do some abnormal service instead of like picking weeds. Oh I helped build a crate and it looks freakin’ legit.
We went on exchanges again except this time I stayed in my area and one of the zone leaders came here. Basically for a whole day I was the Senior Companion it was fun but also a learning experience because I was making every decision and leading my companion around because he doesn’t know this area as much. I also got to learn to get along with someone knew for a whole day so that also helped me grow as a missionary. This is random but I am so thankful for my parents and for their kindness in providing this keyboard I am using to write because it makes life sooooooooo much easier. Thank you Mom and Dad! Anyways so that exchange day. That was also the day that Odalys (investigator from last week) got her baptismal interview. It was kinda rough for her because she is shy but in the end it all worked out.
So yah Odalys got baptized this past Saturday. She is an interesting individual and I think we need to go over with her the importance of reverence. She was being baptized by her boyfriend and the first thing she said as she came up out of the water from being baptized was, “I AM GOING TO KILL YOU!!” Apparently she felt like she was being held underneath the water for too long by her boyfriend so she decided to express her opinion as soon as she got the chance. But it is all okay because we are not perfect and we are all progressing in the gospel regardless if you are Stake President or a Deacon. Everyone is working on something.
On Sunday Odalys got confirmed and it was an awesome experience knowing that I helped her to get to this point in her life. Even if we only started meeting with her two weeks ago it is still amazing the progress she has made. I also know that without the help of our Heavenly Father, his Son Jesus Christ, and the power of the Holy Ghost this work would be impossible. Anyways it’s almost the end of my first transfer so my final test is being the “senior companion” for the week. Basically it means leading the discussions and finding and stuff like that so it will be chill.
