This is Elder and Sister Johnson! They are awesome. They gave us pens so we took a picture with them.
The best part of this week was definitely the Missionary Worldwide Broadcast (I have so many notes!). The brethren over the Missionary Department of the church put on a broadcast in order to put some more emphasis on missionary work. Elder Oaks is now head of the Missionary Department and the new slogan of missionary work is, “Teach Repentance, Baptize Converts.”
We were expecting some huge changes but in reality the brethren just reminded us (all of the missionaries) that there are some things you are slacking on and you need to refocus yourselves in these categories. It was awesome. I am so lucky to have been a part of that event and I am now able to apply it to my full time mission.
On the same day as the broadcast we had zone conference. That was truly edifying as our inspired leaders of the mission had the opportunity to train us on how to become more effective servants of Jesus Christ. Those meetings are wonderful.
In Sacrament meeting I was given the opportunity to speak before a future missionary was to give her farewell talk. Before I spoke, a member of the bishopric invited all of the return and serving missionaries to come on the stand and sing, “I Know My Redeemer Lives.” Being a YSA Ward and a missionary farewell, about the entire ward came on the stand and sang. That was cool.
That is our purpose as missionaries and as members of Christ’s church. We are to declare that He lives and He loves us. As we testify of Jesus Christ often, our own understanding of Him and His Atonement will increase and our testimonies will be strengthened.
Thank you for all of your love and support!
Love, Elder Jared Blatter
